Configuring Windows Firewall

One of the most common causes of connection problems is Windows Firewall. If not configured correctly, Windows Firewall may block the connection between the app and server.

  1. Open the start menu
  2. Search for: "Allow an app through Windows Firewall".
  3. Click "Change settings"
  4. Look for "Unified Remote" in the list

If Unified Remote is in the list

Make sure "Unified Remote" is enabled for "Private" networks. Optionally you can also enable it on "Public" networks.

However, in this case you should enable Password Protection if you intend to use Unified Remote Server on public networks.

If Unified Remote is NOT in the list

  1. Click "Allow another app..."
  2. Click "Browse..."
  3. Add "C:\Program Files (x86)\Unified Remote 3\RemoteServerWin.exe"

Note that the path will be different if using the portable version.
