Configuring Wake On WAN on Windows
Using WOW (Wake On WAN) it is possible to wake up your computer using the Unified Remote app from a mobile data connection. It is the same as WOL (Wake On LAN) however not on your home network. This requires some configuration as described below.
1. Re-add your server
If you already have saved servers in the app, then make sure you re-add your servers. This allows to app to receive the required information needed for performing WOW.
2. Configure Windows, BIOS, and network card
Make sure Windows, BIOS, network card, etc all are configured to allow Wake On LAN. Refer to the Wake On LAN tutorial.
3. Forward the WOW port
Next, make sure your router is configured to pass WOW messages to the computer you wish to wake up. For example, add port forwarding for UDP port 9 to your computers local IP. Google your specific router for more help.
